Marking and clearing for the new trail
First off; flagging the route.Tthis may be done some time before the build, to allow potential contractors to tender for the job or to allow planning officials to see the alignment. Next tree removal; as sympathetically as possible and all resulting timber/brash removed from the trail corridor.
Now the hard work starts!
Then the diggers come in - if it’s good ground, full bench cut and not surfaced, trail designer and digger operator simply build as they go - cheapest and best for some jobs. However, on bad ground or for more elaborate builds the bench will be cut out (more info), protected with ditches and this roughed out trail will be the access corridor for bringing in the required build materials. The team shape up materials as they go leaving the finished trail behind them.
